Architectural Study of the Church / Spiritual Center / "Sending the Holy Spirit" in Vinohrady-Brno.
Valová, Markéta ; Marek, Jiří (referee) ; Šindlar, Jiljí (advisor) ; Daněk, Lukáš (advisor)
The topic of the bachelor thesis was to design a new building of Descent of the Holy Spirit Church in Brno – Líšeň (housing estate Vinohrady). Firstly, this task has been already solved as part of atelier work focusing on interior. Later, the engineering and construction solution was developed during this thesis. The aim was to design a decent place for celebration the holly Mass and for meeting the parish community, which shows its architectural, constructional, layout and art solution on the spiritual and transcendental aspect of the whole building. The Church is connected with Salesians, operating in Líšeň, which devote themselves to youth. The architecture of building is based on character of sacral and public building, and on bible motives too. The Church reminds a ship, which symbolizes the Church in the world, powered by the Holy Spirit. It shows the vocation of the first disciples – fishermen and worldwide presence of Salesians. The basilical lighting used in the main ship of the church refers to the first Christian buildings – the basilicas. The building is situated in specific environment – housing estate, on the top of the hill. It is divided into one-storey-high main ship based on an elliptic plan (building is two-storey-high in choir), which is rounded by the roof made from glued wooden timbers. Two lower block objects, containing the church facilities (sacristy, chapel, room for parents and children, sanitary facilities, etc.), are adjacent to the main ship. To the object is added the monumental entrance in the place of the main ship and a standalone tower – belfry, which makes the vertical dominant of the landscape. The horizontal axis is oriented in the north-south, the main entrance is situated in the north from the Horníkova street. The church is from the west followed by small square, intended not only for ceremonial processions connected with the religious ceremonies (open air holy masses), but for public use, too. The interior emphasizes art m
Restoration of the chateau and manor house in Vážany nad Litavou
Machová, Kamila ; Marek, Jiří (referee) ; Šindlar, Jiljí (advisor) ; Struhala, Karel (advisor)
This work aims to restore the castle and the manor house in Vážany nad Litavou. This building is located in the centre of the southern part of the village of Vážany nad Litavou, on the main street. The building is situated roughly in the middle of a series of estates on the west side of this street. The building is a rugged corner building. The building is not a cultural monument, but as part of this work, we try to treat the building as if it were a cultural monument. The history of the building is not well documented and the first written references date back to 1643. In the 16th century, the Jesuits built not only an economic building in Vážany nad Litavou but also a chateau in the corner position, which is partly palatial and partly ground floor. In the 19th century, the castle is transformed into a classical castle. After 1945, the entire facility was confiscated and forfeited to the state. Five years later, the newly established single agricultural cooperative was put into administration. Cooperative offices were created in the building and two housing units were created on the floor, which later replaced only storage space. Today, the castle building serves the needs of various private institutions and has remained as it was acquired during the early 19th century. My prosal aims to restore the structure to serve the public again. Interference with the exterior appearance from the aisle section will be demonstrated by replacing and increasing the rafters in the right and left wings of the building, replacing roofing, adding roof windows and replacing existing windows with six-table windows. The building gets a new facade. The appearance of the building from the side of the yard will be complemented by a rectangular extension of steel with a glass facade and decorated art stained glass. This addition will include a new staircase.
New Synagogue in Olomouc
Kos, Jakub ; Velek, Jan (referee) ; Dulenčín, Juraj (advisor)
The project was influenced by several factors, the most significant being the water element, which is very important for Judaism and primarily symbolizes ritual purification. The concept divides the area in the axis of Nešverova Street, making an orthogonal block, further separated according to the functions, and public area under which a part of the underground parking is located. The block consists of the synagogue, museum, restaurant and administrative building of the Jewish community with a library. From the architectural standpoint, the project was significantly influenced by the stained glass window of the burned former synagogue, which was, in more modern spirit, imprinted into the museum’s facade. This window becomes a dominant element of the facade, because it pervades all three floors, so the rest of the building is not divided and for lighting of the exhibition areas skylights and artificial light are used. Significance of this concept is intensified by the fact that the visitor is dragged inside, right to the front of the synagogue, to which a ramp leads. There is an importance of the mentioned water element in the design of the synagogue. The whole concept is approached organically and was inspired by a drop of water falling down on the surface. The synagogue literally grows from a body of water which surrounds it and creates a crystalline element. The idea is amplified by the water wall which runs from the passageway all around the synagogue. Part of the administrative building and the restaurant are designed in more simple style, but the idea of arch is reflected in the moulding, which was designed intentionally with reference to the surrounding buildings. The rest of the site served as a small park and this function has been maintained. A significant element in this part of the site is Theresian gate, which remained from the 18th century fortification. The park was supplemented by an artificial bank, which covers the entrance to underground parking a
Architectural study of the sacral object Brno - Live /Líšeň/
Malečková, Kateřina ; Žalmanová, Petra (referee) ; Šindlar, Jiljí (advisor)
The topic of this diploma thesis is design processing of a new sacral building in Brno-Líšeň district. It is a plot in the middle of a panel building between the health centre building and the building of the Salesian Youth Center, so-called Salesko. The Salesian community, which will use the building the most, has been waiting for the realization of this building for many years. The key theme is the creation of spaces enabling people to meet for worship, celebrations and social events. The design is processed by two interconnected operations - the building of the Church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit and the building of clergy house. The basic composition consists of three cubic masses - the entrance, the main liturgical space and the clergy house. The bell tower is the height dominant feature which indicates the sacral function of the building. The project consists a set of buildings with two above-ground floors and a basement in the entrance part of the church. This project also mentions the solution of open spaces around the plot and their conversion into quality public areas, marginally. The sacral space is to become a place that welcomes and takes in its visitors and gives them the feeling of safety. Inside this building, people will find peace, support and undestarstanding, so they may leave with the feeling of being a better person.
Architectural study of the sacral object Brno - Líšeň
Bortlová, Kateřina ; Marek, Jiří (referee) ; Šindlar, Jiljí (advisor)
The content of the diploma thesis was an architectural study of a sacral building in Brno - Líšeň. The subject of the study was the elaboration of an ideological design of a sacral complex, which consisted of a church and a parish. The main operator of the whole complex will be the Salesian community, whose background is in close proximity to the area. The basic idea of the design was to design a spiritual place, which in its form conveys clear information about the use of the object and at the same time supports the development of ideas of the Salesian community. It is a structure that conveys the mission itself, not by one element, but by a set of several elements that together create a story, vision, mission. The ideological solution in this case thus becomes an equilateral triangle, which symbolizes the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. With its dominant vertical direction facing the sky, the object symbolically points to the spiritual path and self-realization. The given area is solved as a complex, the elements of which complement each other and thus create a harmonious whole. The design creates a space for both liturgical celebrations in the interior and exterior, which is used by the outdoor presbytery, which is complemented by residential stairs. These elements are intended to encourage residents to meet and establish friendly relations.

Strašáková, Anna ; Muroň, Ivo (referee) ; Ležatka, Lukáš (advisor)
The subject of the bachelor thesis is the preparation of the documentation for the building permit and part of the documentation for the implementation of the building on the basis of the architectural study, which was developed in the subject AG35 (monument restoration studio). The theme of this bachelor thesis was to find a suitable concept for a new functional use, taking into respect the historical nature of the monument and its structural and technical condition. The project included the restoration of the whole area of the castle, for leisure use and the addition of parking spaces. The result was an architectural study of the restoration with an emphasis on viability and feasibility. The aim of the bachelor's thesis is the gentle restoration of the building with an emphasis on its reuse with both new functions and elements. The castle has been enriched with an extension that adds more lively proportions, thanks to a stained glass window designed in the shape of a crutch, which is the emblem of the municipality of Velké Němčice. The chateau is designed to function as an office, but also as a rental space, a clubhouse, a library, exhibition space and ceremonial rooms. The entire building is designed to be wheelchair accessible, including the immediate surroundings of the castle.

Šillerová, Kateřina ; Mrva,, MgA Jozef (referee) ; Raimund, Karolina (advisor)
The installation consists of soap stained glass, drawings, objects and individual fragments. The project works with the idea that things around us are conscious and can feel emotions, just like us. It focuses on relating to the body and turning the perspective from the outside in. By combining scientific imagery with a spiritual plane, the work aims to return a positive relationship or sensitization towards matter, the body.
Chosen Aspects of Light in Sacred Architecture
Šťasta, Jiří ; Kopeček,, Pavel (referee) ; Hrubý, Jan (referee) ; Drápal, Jaroslav (advisor)
Different approaches to the light is emblematic reflection of the current era and it´s cultural a social aspects. The materials are still being developped but the light is everlasting participant of the architecture. The light is basic element which each architect or artist must confront and use it. Due to this we can watch the work with light, analyse it´s use during the ages of the sacred architecture. The work of an architect is situated in the intersection of theoretic and technical fields of human activities. It´s necessary that the artist or architect knows the theoretic aspects of the light but also that knows real numeral values of the coming light. It is good to know the reasons why and for what was the light used in the past and it´s also needed to have a knowledge how much of the light was used in the liturgical space. How much of the light was used in the interior in the past and how much do we use it nowadays? Is it possible to analyse the tendency in the use of the natural light? These questions are useful in forming new liturgical spaces also in nowadays. The first part of this work is focused on the theoretic aspects of the light (liturgy, theology, psychology and ergonomics). The second part of the work describes the measurements of the intensity of the natural light in the sacred spaces in the different selected churches. The conclusion compares different measured values in each sacred building and the results are included to the larger scientific and historical context. The aim of this work was to evaluate specific interior lightning conditions by unified methodology and to apply it on the larger scientific experience which regards the architectonical practice and the forming of the liturgical spaces.
Vitrage as a basic for series of creative lesson on Elementary Art School (theoretical-project thesis)
KŘEPELKOVÁ, Lenka
The following dissertation thesis is divided into a theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part firstly examines stained glass as an architectural element. The attention is mainly paid to the Bohemian folklore glass painting, which was an integral part of the historical development of glass painting in our country. Furthermore, it focuses on the stained glass as a subject matter in art. This concerns the development of glazing window-apertures from the oldest references and proofs of using such methods to the modern impulses of the 20th century. Secondly, the theoretical part discusses art activities in art classes as well as their relation to the Framework Education Programme. Finally, minor attention is given to project-based learning at art schools together with the historical view of this issue. The practical part of this thesis aims to introduce stained glass as a specific subject matter of art series in pursuance of activities at art schools. Firstly, the organisation, preparation and partial realisation of lessons are discussed. Secondly, the particular lessons and their reflections are described. Additionally, the photo documentation of the lessons realized is included.
